Bulk Importing Passports via CSV

Updated 2026-04Essential reading

Download the template

Go to Dashboard โ†’ Import and click Download CSV Template. The template has one column per Annex XIII field with all headers pre-labelled in the exact format DPP Cloud expects. Row 1 is headers, Row 2 is example data โ€” delete the example row before importing.

๐Ÿ’กUse the CSV template rather than creating your own

The template prevents the most common import errors: wrong column names, incorrect date formats, and missing required fields.

Preparing your data

Add one passport per row, starting from Row 2.

Required columns

Every row must have a value for:

  • product_name โ€” the commercial product name
  • battery_category โ€” must be exactly: EV Battery or Industrial Battery
  • passport_level โ€” must be: model, batch, or item
  • manufacturer_name โ€” legal name of the manufacturer

Data formats

  • Dates: YYYY-MM-DD (e.g. 2026-03-25)
  • Numbers: Use decimal point, not comma (e.g. 75.5 not 75,5)
  • Percentages: Enter as a number 0โ€“100 (e.g. 16 for 16%)

Import limits

LimitValue
Maximum file size10 MB
Maximum rows per import1,000 passports
File encodingUTF-8 (not Windows-1252)
Supported formats.csv only
โ„น๏ธSave as CSV UTF-8 in Excel

In Excel, use File โ†’ Save As and choose "CSV UTF-8 (Comma delimited)" โ€” not "CSV (Comma delimited)". The Windows-1252 encoding causes errors on special characters.

After import

Imported passports are created as drafts. Review them in the Passports list and activate each one individually, or use Batch Submit from the Passports list to activate multiple at once.

Supply chain actors cannot be imported via CSV โ€” they must be added individually from the passport detail page.
