Your Account Role and What It Means
Your economic operator role in DPP Cloud determines which Annex XIII fields are required, how your organisation appears on registered passports, and which EU obligations apply to you.
The four operator roles
Why it matters
Your role affects three things:
- Required fields โ Manufacturers must complete all Annex XIII data fields. Importers must verify the data is present and accurate but may not need to enter it themselves if the manufacturer has already done so. ARs fill in fields on behalf of their mandating manufacturer.
- Passport attribution โ The economic operator role appears on the registered passport and the public viewer. Customs authorities see which operator is responsible for the passport.
- Regulatory obligations โ Each role has different legal obligations under the Battery Regulation. Manufacturers have the broadest obligations; distributors the narrowest.
Your account-level role is the default for every passport you create. However, you can override the role on individual passports. This is useful if you are both a manufacturer of some batteries and an importer of others โ set your account role to your primary activity, then override on specific passports as needed.
How to check or change your account role
Your current role is shown in Settings โ Organisation. To change your account-level role, contact DPP Cloud support. Individual passport roles can be changed on the passport detail page while the passport is in Draft status.
